Makrolon® - gold for aesthetics, stability and ecology. The 2008 Olympics, a great festival of sporting superlatives, has come to an end after giving the world much pleasure - despite being overshadowed by a few Chinese "peculiarities". Top performances were achieved by the sportsmen and women during the Games as well as by the design and construction of the new stadiums. Many had breathtaking designs and could only be built using unique materials.
One of these materials is Makrolon® made by Bayer.
Some of the unusual roof designs of the new Olympia stadiums were only made possible by utilizing the excellent properties of solid and multi wall sheets from Bayer Sheet Europe. The sheets combine lightness, stability and transparency and gave architects and builders great freedom when designing roof membranes for the stadiums.
From the gigantic dimensions of the Olympic stadium to the intimate and romantic tea house of the famous Japanese architect and professor Kengo Kuma, is where we want to whisk you away to in the third article in our newsletter. Sip a cup of tea and allow yourself to be inspired by the almost endless possibilities offered by Makrolon®.
Aesthetics and ecology are no longer a contradiction!
With the new Makrolon® sheets "Ambient" and "5M - Energy" Bayer Sheet Europe is setting new standards for attractive roofing which allows light to flow through but which still has excellent insulation qualities. Bayer Sheet Europe is using these qualities in the EcoCommercial Building in New Delhi, an ecological project of Bayer Material Science. Please take time to read the report about this interesting project.
And again we are presenting a new member of the family in this edition. Wim van Eynde is Venture Manager for our new product Makrolon® Ambient.
There are some useful tips on working with our materials to round off this newsletter.
We hope you enjoy it!
